I absolutely adore your songs = The World is What You Make It, Nobody Knows and Nothing But The Same Old Story. I find I connect with the lyrics on a deeper level. I wonder is it me or was there an intention on your part to have an esoteric aspect within those songs in specific? I also find that in other Irish artists songs.
If my intuition is correct, I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the testing times we have faced these past two years.

Many times , over many years I meant to contact you .I love your music .In 1978-1979 I worked in Altnagelvin and met your late mother .She was so very very proud of your music and what you were trying to achieve ( at that time). .I remember her as a beautiful , gentle lady who clearly adored her son .

A few months ago, I came across your music on Spotify- specifically “The Lakes of Pontchartrain.” I’m familiar with the song, but wow- loved your rendition. I started looking through all your work, and I’ve realized that only a fraction of your music is on Spotify, the streaming service I use.
Do you have any plans to release any more albums for streaming?
Lastly, I just want to tell you that you’ve really inspired me to take my playing and singing to the next level- you’re a legend. Wish I could come see you, but I live in Louisiana. I’ll keep an eye on your tour dates.

Saw you over a decade ago at Kuumbwa Club in Santa Cruz. California. It was memorable. Hope you and a few other Irish musicians can return someday soon.
Where I belong (Spain) there are not enough access to the Irish-folk music like yours. A few weeks ago I was listening to one playlist and then your song "Arthur Mcbride" appeared and just blew my mind. Awesome guitar playing with open G tuning and also a beatiful voice. Love the way you sang that song and the way you mixed it with your guitar skills.
Searching in the net I found this website and red some of your kind replys of this guestbook. That touched my heart.
Now I'm trying to learn that song of one Arthur Mcbride. I saw you posted some tabs but the archives must be fallen. Could you let me know where I can find these tabs in order to learn it. that would be amazing. A spanish guy on his 30's trying to sing that lovely song.

Been a fan for decades. I have seen you in Belfast many times. Before the lockdown there was supposed to be a gig in Donegal - "an evening with" or something like that. Did it ever happen or any plans to reschedule? If you ever do I'll try and make it and can you please play a little-known number lurking at the end of Spirits Colliding called Beautiful World? It takes my breath away every time. So sad and poignant and I'd love to hear it sung live.
Your music has accompanied me through thick and thin and there's always an appropriate song for the moment. My now grown kids were subjected to you from a young age. Dunno if I've quite managed to convert them but I like to think your music is in their heads and one day will out!!
So glad to read on here there's still more songs to discover after all these years.

Indeed you are right, Brendan. Theo Katzman and I did a bunch of shows in Ireland back in 2018. You might have missed that another VP member, Joe Dart on bass was also in the band. Louis Cato on drums and Lee Pardini on keys rounded it off. I had a ball. there are other tracks from those gigs on Youtube as well. Enjoy!
Can't wait for tonight's concert at the Festival Hall. Those Johnstons' days seem very far away now but I was 17 and am now 70 and still loving the music and my husband of 51 years who introduced me to it.

Hi Paul. Please can you tell me if you ever made the DVD of the brilliant tour from a few years ago with Andy, Donal and Kevin. We managed to see you all at the Barbican and it was such a memorable evening we loved it. Having first seen you at a smalll local folk club when I was still at school in 1968 (I am now 70 years young), it brought back so many wonderful memories. Take care - I am truly hoping Festival Hall concert goes ahead in February now. All good wishes.

Of course I knew your name, but never was very familiar with your music, but that will soon change. My friend asked me a question - as I have among other guitars, a Yamaha LL36. He thought that one of your early guitars was such a model. I told him that this model is much newer, but that Yamaha made and still makes some pretty good guitars. He would like to know - and so do I - on which model and year Yamaha guitar you used to play early in your carriere (or maybe still. Hi Paul, I started listening to you back in the 1970s in our bedsit we played our Johnston's Vinyl LP so much we all knew the words by heart of "Continental Trailways Bus" I was totally blown away when I heard and saw Arthur Mc Bride at a Cinema in Dublin mid - seventies and everything that you have done since then you just keep getting better and better. I have admired your music so much that I have sent Vinyl Albums to France , England and lots to my friends in Ireland. I also turned Steve Cooney onto your music within days of him arriving in Ireland and took him to one of your concerts I knew that as a fellow musician that he would be blow away with your music I think that he may have got to play with you at some stage. Your voice your songs touch the heart and your guitar playing and musicality are exceptional and world class. When my friend who has been listening to music for the past 40 years heard "Nobody Knows" she said that this song touched her like no other song had. That's what you do to people with your incredible music I am wishing a long and continued successful career I have been to many of your concerts and hope to attend many more in the future. I came across your definitive arrangement of Arthur McBride yesterday, it's completely extraordinary, there is probably too much overlapping in this 7-minute space to properly catalogue...... I woke up with the whole thing in my head immediately this morning.. have watched and listened 20 or so times today, researched the song, watched interviews with you in them, and am now on the Tube and this site here sourcing tab etc to learn this ... I wish I'd known your arrangement when I had a more powerful voice.... going to have to start doing more sit-ups when the Gyms open!!
